“The Shell Oil Stinson was easier than most because there was almost zero ambient light around
it. You can actually walk around in the photo, when it’s so dark. Look closely between the gear
legs to see the ghost of fellow photographer Tyson Rininger. The airplane is especially historic
because Jimmy Doolittle flew it quite often while working for Shell Oil in the 1930s.”
The B-1 has
al ways one of my
favorites. I enjoy
how the light wraps
around it.
“This night was
the last time
SpaceShip
One and White
Knight would
be together,
before going to
the Smithson-
ian the next
day. A Smith-
sonian rep told
me to protect
it because it’s
now a national
treasure.”
“The lights of Oshkosh in the back-
ground can really complicate balancing
the exposure. It’s hard to argue with
photographing Corsairs, however!”
